Disinfection methods for medical bone drills
The commonly used method for disinfecting medical bone drills is ethylene oxide sterilization, which has a relatively high vapor pressure and can penetrate micropores to reach deep into the object. Both liquids and gases have strong bactericidal effects, with gases having a stronger bactericidal effect. Its advantages include:
(1) Can be used for sterilizing items that are not resistant to high temperature and humidity. (2) Ethylene oxide is considered the most effective chemical fungicide, capable of killing all microorganisms including bacterial spores. (3) Strong permeability, can be used for sterilization of various non permeable parts. For example, the connection point of medical bone drill. (4) The damage to objects is minimal because it kills microorganisms through the principle of alkylation rather than oxidation, making it widely used for sterilization of heat-resistant precision instruments. (5) During sterilization, various packaging materials can be used for easy storage and transportation. Once the packaging is opened, it can be used immediately, avoiding the risk of cross contamination. (6) Has decades of usage experience.
Ethylene oxide is widely used in clinical practice. In addition to medical bone drills, there are also the following equipment and instruments:
(1) Soft and hard endoscopes: arthroscopy, bronchoscopy, cystoscopy, gastroscopy, colonoscopy, mediastinoscopy, ophthalmoscopy, otoscopy, laryngoscope, prostatectomy, thoracoscopy, urethroscopy. (2) Medical equipment: anesthesia equipment, heat transfer equipment, cardiopulmonary machines, respiratory and therapeutic equipment, hemodialysis equipment. (3) Instruments: electric drill, electric burn device, electric pen, dental drill, microsurgical instruments, nerve stimulator, pressure gauge, surgical instruments, artificial joints. (4) Rubber products: catheters, dilators, drainage tubes, tracheal tubes, surgical gloves, bed sheets, etc.
